The building, constructed in 1913, was commissioned by the first French-Canadian insurance company, La Sauvegarde. The marble staircase, original vaults, and grand entrance have been preserved. On the façade, the massive ornamental iron doors—fully restored—attest to the richness of the architectural detailing of the period.
