Villa-Maria Station: Between Collective Memory and Movement, an Architectural Tour

May 2

11:00—12:00

Villa-Maria Station

COEX presents an immersive guided tour of Villa-Maria Metro Station, exploring architecture and design through the lens of public accessibility and collective heritage. Structured as an on-site architectural reading, the visit offers a renewed perspective on a familiar environment, drawing on archival material, technical constraints, and the collaborative design process.

Participants will explore the integration of three elevators within the existing station—a complex intervention transformed into a contemporary luminous gesture. The tour examines how the architectural addition and the contemporary artwork build upon the legacy of André Léonard, the station’s original architect, engaging Montréal’s collective imagination and identity.

More than infrastructure, Villa-Maria becomes an interdisciplinary platform to reflect on inclusive mobility and the cultural responsibility of public design.

Meeting point, Saturday May 2 at 11:00am:
Outside the entrance near the elevator
4331 Decarie Blvd., Montreal
